ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Dorothy L. Espelage, Ph.D., is a Professor of Child Development and Associate Chair in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois.  She was recently named University Scholar and has fellow status in Division 17 (Counseling Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.  She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University in 1997.

She has conducted research on bullying which focuses on prevention and intervention.  As a result, she presents regularly at national conferences and is author of over 70 professional publications.  She is incoming Associate Editor of the Journal of Counseling Psychology.  She has presented workshops and in-service training seminars for teachers, administrators, counselors, and social workers across the United States.  Her current research, funded by The National Science Foundation, focuses on developing better methods to assess bullying among adolescents.  Dr. Espelage has appeared on television news and talk shows, including The Today Show; CNN; CBS Evening News; and The Oprah Winfrey Showand she has been quoted in the national print press, including Time Magazine, USA Today, and People magazine.


PROGRAM: WORKING TOGETHER TO PREVENT BULLYING

Professor Dorothy Espelage will present useful information on her recent research on preventing bullying.  She will also share ways for teachers, parents and administrators to collaborate to reduce bullying. This workshop is recommended for parents, social workers, psychologists, and educators who recognize the need for more information about bullying. Often children with learning disabilities and ADHD have special problems when they are bullied.  As always there will be ample time for questions and sharing.
